Okay, read through some of the comments, totally WTF-ing even more now

So it seems the major issue everyone has with Ron and Hermione is that they're not nice and pleasant to each other (while dating other people), and that their relationship is hurtful. Um. Newsflash: relationships are hurtful. Not all of them, and they sure as hell aren't supposed to be, but the reality is that they are. And when did this idea of people always being nice and polite come into vogue anyway? People are assholes. God, we treat each other like shit, but if that alone were probable cause to label a relationship unhealthy and abusive then society would have unraveled long ago.

And as to the 'physical' aspect of their interaction... guys, they're characters in a series of fantasy fiction. Fiction originally targeted at kids. There's a certain amount of the writing (actually, a lot of it) that we'll just have to accept as JK exaggerating things to make a lasting impression. Ron/Hermione is basically what a real time dysfunctional teenage couple would look like turned into a huge hyperbole.

At this point, I'm kind of horrified at myself. Oh my god, HP shipping, you attack in the least likely of places.
