Not the OP, but basically the only solution is to stop logging into LJ at all for several weeks, which many people would find a less than ideal solution. FMM turns hundreds of otherwise fine people into terrifying mirror universe versions of themselves and it's horrifying to watch.

That sucks. It's been a while since I've participated in fandom beyond F!S and fanfic, but what I used to do was filter my feed so I'm only looking at communities and a few select people who don't post much in the first place, so while it didn't get rid of the insanity, it was much easier to avoid.
