The Musketeers

(Anonymous) 2014-03-09 10:27 pm (UTC)(link)
So, does anyone here is watching? I find it rather fun, though I watch it more for side characters than for D'Artagnan, who is blander than soggy bread with no crusts. The writing could be tighter, but I have a weakness for cloak and dagger stories.

Seeing Tumblr jump on the Alexandre Dumas and Musketeer/17th century France politics has made me happy and annoyed in equal measures. (for goodness sake you're on the Internet! Use this power for good and research!)

...No, sorry, but I have been thinking about it based on the fact that the cast is hot as hell. That's basically my entire reason for wanting to watch, but it does sound like it would be a fun show. (It couldn't be worse than Merlin at any rate, and I watched that to the end, so...)

I won't lie, Santiago Cabrera in leather is one of my main reasons.

(and hi, I'm the OP and also the French anon who's always lurking around here and who nags about Hobbits) (we also follow each other on Tumblr)

Ooo, yes, Santiago Cabrera is beautiful. I was first introduced to him in Heroes and was then pleasantly surprised when I got into Merlin; had no idea he was in that. (He didn't have enough screentime but I adored Lancelot. He was a great character.)

All that leather...mmm.

And hello! I'm not sure I know exactly who you are (did we have a conversation about DOS and tissues?) because a lot of people I follow on tumblr change names frequently so I get a little lost, but I'm sure you are a quality blog or I wouldn't have followed you in the first place. LOL.

(yep, the tissue conversation! And aww, haha! Thanks!)

He is in Musketeers and he plays Aramis! A major role, ergo plenty enough time to ogl- watch the plot.

yep, the tissue conversation!

I feel we are kindred spirits. (I will apologize for the lack of Hobbit/LOTR stuff though, because I know I don't post enough!)

Watching to ogle is a perfectly valid reason, and if finding someone hot leads you to genuinely enjoy a series of characters or plotlines that's pretty awesome! It wouldn't be the first time that had happened to me.

I do, too, friend. (it's okay, I'm a multi-fandom blog/person anyway!)

I will watch/read/play almost anything musketeer-related and yes, I have been watching it. It's a good bit of fun, I find. And I agree, I'm pretty much watching it for the three musketeers and less so for D'Artagnan.

I'm waiting until it's over and then I'm going to watch the whole thing. I'm very excited about it and have been looking forward to this for a while. Tumblr and fandomy places online are actually part of the reason I don't enjoy watching things as they air anymore.

I tried to watch it but gave up at episode 3.

The seamstress character was fun (and her disapproving husband - who was Miranda's old sitcom boyfriend which amused me greatly). The rest of it I found a bit odd in tone. It's got a lot of violence and depressing scenes about prostitution/kept women. But it's also obviously supposed to be purely fun romp. I don't think it juggled those elements well.

It's coming near the end of its run so I'm going to try again before all the episodes go from iplayer.

I'm watching for Aramis, Porthos and Constance. To be fair, I almost always do. Oh, and the Cardinal. Again, almost always. I've enjoyed this version so far, though, a few quibbles about random ladies dying aside.
