It has stunning visuals, despite the gore. Surreal, beautiful imagery. The costume/set/food designers should be more appreciated. (I normally loathe horror & gore, and I love this show.) And a lovely soundtrack. And great acting. And a highly sympathetic main character. Also plenty of awesome side characters. And several amazing ladies! For a crime show, it also takes a less... idk, sexualized approach to crime? I'm not sure how to word it, exactly, but it doesn't feel skeevy.

The fandom is a great example of positive interaction between creators and fans, and it has an official show tumblr that is well worth following. And while there are some annoying people, there isn't much drama, and what drama there is is easy to avoid. For such a dark fandom, it has a good sense of humour and doesn't take itself too seriously.
