IA. It was rather silly of her to throw a tantrum in the first place when she's writing about creatures lifted from the folklore of eastern europe and popularized by authors like Bram Stoker.

Ah'yup. It can be argued that any authors using vampires and folklore creatures is essentially fan fic of those legends (and in the case of drawing inspiration from Bram Stoker, using elements -headcanon? fanon?- popularized by certain authors), much in the same way one could argue that paintings of the Greek Gods or Biblical figures is/could be essentially fan art.

(But that's another debate for another day, haha)
