Yeeeeup.

I mean, I like Buffy/Spike to watch. For me, it's the most dynamic (that is, it's messed up, but also interesting, and Spike is one of my favorite characters to watch in emotional extremes), but I'm surprised when anyone is surprised that SMG doesn't like Spuffy, or that it's not someone's cup of tea--because there are plenty of reasons for it not to be.

But if the question is "Who is best for Buffy?" then the answer out of the options we're given is "None of them."

I honestly have no problem with shipping Buffy with anyone, but you have to acknowledge the ships we were given were all messed up. Even with Angel there's the problem of how young Buffy was when they first got together and how when he turned into Angelus it was a pretty obvious metaphor for a relationship with an abusive ex.

Her problems with Spike were pretty much stated in text and Riley was probably the closest Buffy got to having a real relationship but they fucked it up quickly.

I just can't personally ship her with anyone when I just think all the options we were given would make her miserable.
