Not OP, but I think I feel mostly the same way as them (I'm the anon above who made the first comment on this secret). And what you're saying is about right for me. I'm asexual, and if all a fic has going for it is plain old sex, it's just going to be boring to me because it doesn't turn me on. But alien sex is more interesting to read about, especially if the author has a good imagination and makes it notably different from human sex. And there are aspects of certain kinds of human sex that creep me out that don't tend to show up in alien sex.

For much the same reason, I'm happier to read kinky or fetishy fics than vanilla sex fics. I also like reading about failsex and funny sex. Basically, I'm not in it to be turned on (...usually), so there's gotta be something else there to hold my interest.
