Google any SMG interview where she talks about Buffy and you'll hear her say that Angel is Buffy's soulmate and no one can ever eclipse him in her heart. She's been saying it since 1997, as has Joss. They've also both said repeatedly that Buffy did not love Spike romantically and her eventual platonic love for him was born out of guilt and gratitude. They've also both said that her relationships with Riley and Spike were to show that she still loved Angel.

They can drag the comics out as long as they like but Buffy ended with Chosen for millions of people. The few thousand people who have ever wasted their time and money on those shitty comics can piss off from the TV show fandom and have their own little circle jerk if they want.
