i don't think it's bullshit or disrespectful, i think it's the ideal way to interact with art. but i can't do it myself.

explicitly stated authorial intent trumps everything else to me, even when it doesn't gel with my original interpretation of the text. Word Of God is right. idk if it's because i'm not a creative person and prefer knowing to playing around with loose blocks, but i'm not very good at making the sandbox my own, basically. i mostly just watch.
