(Anonymous) 2014-03-11 11:16 pm (UTC)(link)Children are very smart but you can't for instance, give them a psychological thriller and expect them to be entertained. An adult drama that is well written is not the same thing as a children's drama that is well written.
I don't think that means things shouldn't be well thought out, in fact I think there should be just as much thought and care as if it were adult entertainment. The problem is family entertainment is often not respected as a field and as a result a lot of writers do tend to hand waive problems (I know Moffat has done this.)
