Can't help you on the question of whether to donate to 2 or 3, or just one, but I can recommend you look into your local food bank. They usually only have one or two employees who make very little money.

Seconded. Bonus, you'll undoubtedly help children and family pets as well as needy adults!

And if you live in a snowy area, you should have a local program to give blankets and coats to homeless people. They need money as well as goods.

I always give locally first. The enormous, international charities are great, but everyone thinks of them. It's the little stuff that gets forgotten, like the food bank, and Out of the Cold, and women's shelters.

My town doesn't have a food bank but I can probably check out the larger town near us. They might have one!

Rock on. The food bank in my area serves several smaller towns. Go for it, OP!

Food banks can do some amazing things with cash donations. If you're looking at how much goes towards the charitable work/how much work the money gets done, it's very hard to beat most food banks.
