Sword Art Online had so much potential, but season 1 was paced way too quickly to be climactic at the end. At least it was interesting, though I was shocked at the waste, and Azusa (the girl?) kind of being cool but mostly being embarrassing and moe. Then season 2, I ragequit like four episodes in, and that took discipline to get that far. Still mad about it, even though this was like two years ago, because I was so enamored with the concept. The first episode blew me away. It even had gay implications with Kotetsu's VA. Whyyyy did you suckkkkk, whyyy

Oh, I'm currently trying to force myself to finish SAO. It had a relatively interesting premise but Kirito was such a fucking unlikeable douchebag and Asuna lost any chance for character development and just became his waifu. Those fucking episodes with them at the cabin and Yui are painful. So fucking painful to watch.

I've heard Log Horizon, which has a similar premise, is leagues better so I'm going to check that out.

I didn't mind Kirito, except in that he didn't seem to surpass his character archetype. I weirdly thought the episodes with him and Asuna getting married were... cute. But Asuna just got so annoying to me. As did Kirito's harem of ladies, or rather, the concept of him having a harem. And the time jump every episode seemed so unnecessary! This is an anime where I would've been happy to watch fifty episodes, even with some filler, before the finale.

The ending of season 1 annoyed me, too. SPOILERS - I think it would've been more interesting if the characters believed that people didn't really die in the game, and that there was a chance they would "wake up" after the game was beaten and be right at the moment when they started playing or something. Then the hospital thing could've been a slap in the face plot twist, and everyone dying - I feel they didn't take advantage enough of the fact that no one knew what was going on in the real world.

I couldn't stand him. At all. I know this term is used a lot, but he was such a Gary Stu. The way he defeated Heathcliff after somehow reviving long enough with no explanation after his hp went down to zero. The way the plot just bends over backwards for him. Asuna had the chance to be a great character but after getying into a relationship with Kirito and becoming such a cliche girlfriend type character, there was no hope for her. She just exists to be Kirito's girfriend.

Those cabin episodes and their whole relationship is just cringe-inducing and devoid of any chemistry. There was no build up and the fact they would have been fine just living their days out in SAO just bugged me. People are dying in the game and they were so selfosh and wrapoed up in each other.

The ending didn't bother me. What bothered me was how Kirito and Asuna acted like it was no big dealnthat Kayaba's scheme cost do many damn lives when they were chatting with him. There was no mention of the countless people who fucking died. And afterwards, the only thing Kirito had on his mind was his Asuna.

Oh man, I felt the same way. When I watched SAO, I thought it was going to be a cool rebellion thing where Kirito teams up with people and fights the oppressive video game system.

But nope. It's all about Asuna. And then when Asuna's gone, his cousin wants to fuck him. It was such a cool concept, but, at the end of the day, it had as much plot as any trashy romance.

Aryt

I'm surprised you managed to understand me with how many typos I made, orz. But yeah, their nonchalant attitude about what's goingbon around them and how selfish they are is just grating.

It doesn't help that the author himself said that he can't help but make the female characters fall for Kirito because he doesn't know what else to do with them. Ugh. I might hatewatch the new season if one of my favorite bloggers blogs it. Their posts are making the anime almost bearable for me.
