but in terms of episodes
I should probably shut up and go to bed tonight, of course the difference is in terms of eps. SO are usually daily I think. I'm seriously terrible at these things though, I only ever watch things on my laptop... tv has stopped existing in all its forms a long time ago for me. In my defense, it is utter crap where I live.

"GH for example has essentially run five days a week/52 weeks a year since 1963"
Amazing. I always ask myself, how do these actors cope with the fact that they basically have another personality which is almost as meaningful as their own? Every day for years... I can't even tell if it would be a benediction or utter doom. It's not like SO themes are even interesting or stimulating.

Yup. Soaps are daily. I went through a period in high school where I watched quite a few of them. And, honestly, I always wondered how soap opera actors dealt with the grind. I mean a movie takes months to film two hours. A television show takes a week to film an hour. Soaps film an hour a day. With pretty much no breaks. As I said, that one actor has filmed over 1700 episodes. That seems like an awful lot of time to be someone you are not.

I feel like soaps probably end up using a lot of first (maybe second) takes. If you put it into context, the average work day is 8 hours long, so I think it's pretty doable when the director isn't as picky.
