There are certain ideas that will not leave me alone, and if I don't write them, they completely block anything else I try to write. Once I get them out of my system, it frees me up to write the things I should be writing.

It doesn't even necessarily require a re-read.

And it may be that the OP is articulating a judgment that other people will think it's shitty, not that they themselves do. I have an idfic of my own that I know other people will find absolutely horrifying, but I love it to pieces.
