There is nothing wrong with feeling how you're feeling, so don't feel guilty. Though I wouldn't be surprised if he started making those nasty comments about you're schoolwork/career because he was already feeling the heat at work and wanted to take his frustrations out on someone. Doesn't make him any less of a jerk, but it might explain why he treated you that way in the first place when you were helping out his family. He was probably trying to make a dig at your bf too, but couldn't because your bf has graduated and is working so decided to get to him through you instead.
