Shows you almost gave up on but didn't

[personal profile] philstar22 2014-03-13 11:28 pm (UTC)(link)
I had almost given up on Criminal Minds, this past season has gotten me interested again.

Anyone else have shows that they almost gave up on but then something changed you're mind?

I am like this every week with Teen Wolf. I never watch it and then I see some cool GIFs from it so I end up going, Damnit. Gotta watch it.

Honestly, the gifs/fics/art is far superior to the show itself. Especially season three, which is just getting more and more fubar as it goes.

I just skip to the Stiles scenes.

I am in that middle ground where I've given up actually watching but still care enough about what actually happens. GIFs and humorous episode reviews and spoilers are what I'm enjoying these days.

I jussttt left that phase with SPN. I don't care about it at all anymore.

Oh, light at the end of the tunnel! I'm mostly enjoying myself, but I am really hoping I can phase out all caring about Teen Wolf in the near future.

If you don't mind me asking, what made you change your mind about CM? I gave it up a while ago when (SPOILER) Reed's girlfriend was killed and I always wonder if I should start watching again.

I'm liking the cases more this season and the fact that we're back to more of a case focus. There was a bit of a JJ story, but mostly its been about cases and teamwork rather than an overarching storyline and focus on one team member. And Alex feels like she's settling in more. Her linguistic background has actually been used once or twice.

Oh, that'd be a big improvement. I didn't care for all the personal drama that seemed to be taking over the show. Thanks!

Vikings. I never would have got past the second ep if it weren't for the fandom with all those lovely gifs and fics.

Musketeers. I'd almost given up on it but a comment here made me give it another chance.

Agents of Shield. I was this close to giving up on it when it actually started getting better.

+1 It's actually been good lately when at the beginning it was a snore fest. I still wish the younger actors were stronger but the plot has been enough to keep me interested lately.

Same here. Also at this point I actually care about the main cast--well, Ward's hit and miss, but the rest of them are interesting.

Ditto. A big part of the reason I almost gave it up was Skye, but I'm glad I stuck it out because she's really turned into a likeable character. Also, I ship her with Simmons. And Agent May with Sif, but that's neither here nor there.

Hustle, tbh. The first few episodes were really kind of lame to me, but I managed to stick through to the finale of the first series and I LOVED it. I still don't have total faith in the characters (I still fear that their cons are going to go bad), but I'm definitely more interested.

I wish there were more girls, though. I've rare thought that about any show. I like Stacie, but ... needs more ladies.

I don't remember the first few episodes, Hustle was one of those shows I watched on television first, and then started from the beginning...

The quantity of girls stay the same until the end if I remember correctly.

I almost gave up on Bones in season 4, but then I kept watching, as the start of season 5 was better. Of course, then I gave up for good last season, so it didn't last, but... :P

I've pretty much given up on Bones. I watched like two episodes this season, but I haven't been able to bring myself any more.

Like you Criminal Minds, but also Psych, Grey's Anatomy, Community*, House, HIMYM, Doctor Who, Torchwood aand I just realized the list is really long...

*Which I think I will stop watching soon if nothing changes for the better...

I wish Psych was doing a little better considering it's the last season, I enjoyed last night's episode but otherwise it's been fairly underwhelming.

Psych probably should have ended at about season 6. I love the show but they've been running out of steam.

Arrow. I think I slept through a good third of the episodes in S1 because they just didn't hold my attention - which is an astonishing feat with that much pretty on the screen. Then somewhere around S1 Ep 14, I got completely and totally hooked, to the point where I have re-watched most of the episodes 2-3 times now.

I need S2 on Netflix like now. =(

Most fans agree that it did get a whole lot better by the end of season 1.

Yeah Arrow had a reaaaaaally slow start but actually picked up by the end of the first season, and season 2 has been a bit of the same for me(but tbh I think that's because they're trying to make me care about characters that I don't give a flying fuck about so I'm getting a bit bored). But I'm enjoying the overarching plot and stuff so I'll be keeping up with it.

I almost gave up on Sherlock, but I still hope that the "Moriarty lives" thing will prove to be a trick of some sort.
