Pretty much this. I always feel like people who complain when a celebrity doesn't speak out about something don't realize just how easy it is to get blacklisted by the entertainment industry, especially if you are a minority and/or woman.

I really can't blame people who make the choice to want to protect their career, especially when they're new to it and not in a powerful position.

There's not a much more conservative industry than Hollywood.

Of course, if you get famous enough, the risks usually go away. I don't think she's hit that mark yet, though.
