(Anonymous) 2014-03-14 08:08 am (UTC)(link)I was 8 or 9 reading The Chocolate War (my older sister had read it, maybe for a class, and had mentioned it a couple times), and "vague but powerful discomfort" is a ridiculously perfect phrase for the feeling afterwards. Like, I remember closing the back cover of the book and just sitting there, tensed-up and thinking, "I disagree! I don't know with what! But I disagree!!!"
