THANK YOU. This is what I was saying a few threads up. Some people can't consider that this incident comes with a context. Was it unfair that he got the brunt of this anger? Maybe. But he's also been known to be a dick, and it's not surprising that some people wouldn't want to be made fun of at an event dedicated to stuff they like and a community they're supposed to be able to participate in.

It's a thing that people do that they think once someone says something offensive somewhere they can never be expected to be nice again. Which is Bullshit. Also that we are forcing American standards on another culture. Again. No matter how close we think England and US are.

I'm not even angry at the specific chick. I actually just realized I KNOW her which is weird. It's just a another fucking fight that is dividing a community further because of maybes and potential hurt feefees.

Have you ever considered that maybe there are people who don't want to be treated like they don't even belong anymore? If you think that somehow people don't have a right to be suspicious and wary of someone who have said insensitive things before, then you're delusional. You're also delusional if you think that people did not see the very decision to have a guy who has a history of sexism host in ADDITION to all the other shit that's been going down in the community as an affront.

Get it through your thick skull - even if he hadn't said anything mean, the sci-fi community is sending a clear message to the women who are interested in this stuff, and it's that they're going to continue supporting people who act like they're not even real consumers or people.

One more thing: it was either HIS feefees got hurt by realizing that people didn't want him to host until he changed his behavior, OR an entire subsection of the fandom's feefees got hurt for again being ENCOURAGED to think that all the rest of it wants them gone. Why do you automatically assume that HIS feefees are more important? Because you're a sexist douche.
