I would have thought that the books you read WOULD reflect your interests, at least? Why would you read them if you're not interested in them?

I read uninteresting books on principle. For the sake of getting cultural information.

(I just like useless facts, okay).

ETA: and I don't mean classics and stuff - I love classics - I mean things like "Iron and Steel Production" (spoiler: my field of studies has all shit to do with steel).

Kudos to you, this is exactly what I would like to do (useless facts are the best!). I've been having a lot of trouble sticking with longer works of non-fiction lately, though. I never used to need a plot to motivate me to finish a book, but now it's like pulling teeth. Disheartening.
