I've been in some dark places myself and I can understand why you feel a need to end your life.
I have several friends who had attempted suicide (some of them multiple times) before I had ever met them.
I'm so glad they never killed themselves, because I don't know what I would ever do without them. They brighten my life every single day.

They're implying that being happy that someone didn't commit suicide because said person brings joy to their life is selfish. Other folks upthread have said that suicide is a viable option if you're sad enough.
