Yeah, kinda more this. Like, I'm not gonna make any assumptions about their intelligence, but it would just seem very...off to me.

That's assuming the person is an adult. Because I know as a kid/teenager, I sure went through a phase of IF IT ISN'T FANTASY OR MAGICAL THEN WHAT IS THE POINT.

I still have my favorite genres, but hopping outside of them every now and again (and/or reading nonfiction, which has SO MANY THINGS) just keeps you from circling the same concepts over and over again.

Are your thoughts the same if reading isn't your main leisure activity? Like, if you do other things, including finding other ways to take in ideas and not become stale/closed-minded, is it still "silly" to spend what reading time you do have on something you specifically know you will enjoy?
