People don't say they look alike. They say their characters Will Turner and Bard look alike. Which they do. A lot.

If the OP hadn't included those handy little notations indicating the exact points where they differ, I'd be looking at that picture and wondering if they were the same guy.

Then again, I'm faceblind and have trouble recognizing friends and family, so I'm not exactly the best person to ask about this sort of thing.

They really do.

Granted the styling of those two characters hair and facial hair is similar, but people keep claiming that the actors look *exactly the same* outside that context. I have even seen people saying they sound just the same, which is why I included the voices bit.

I don't know why it irks me so much, I think maybe I feel like people are just dismissing Luke as an Orlando clone before becoming familiar with him and that does a disservice to both of them. Also I secretly think Luke is a much better actor, much as I <3 Orly, and should be given a chance - I just need him to be in better stuff.

This is a secret because - why the hell do I care so much? but I DOOOOO!!!

That's what I thought when I saw Bard for the first time. Although I will say he made a better-looking Will Turner to me. XD

I legit wondered why they didn't just pay Orlando Bloom to play two roles in the film (or just...not shove Legolas in there) if they wanted someone who looked exactly like Orlando-Bloom-as-Will-Turner to play Bard.

Yes, exactly. I'M moderately face blind and I was watching the DoS trailer with a general feeling of "why does Orlando Bloom play two roles in one movie at the same time" because Will Turner and Legloas are the two only roles I remember him in.

They have really similar eye shape, though.

(is it bad that I envisage the author of the secret as Sherlock? These random things written in the air look so much like Sherlock's deductions in deduction scenes).

They don't look that similar to me, but I can see a vague resemblance. Will Turner and Bard have similar hair (facial and otherwise) and clothes so if you're looking at those two I get it.

Let's see: similarly shaped noses, eyes, and mouths. Similar hair (dark) similar skin tone (you can call it warm VS cool if you like, but it looks exactly the same in these side-by-side photos you've used). Similarly shaped (flat) forehead, same size more or less.

So pretty much all you have for differences is face shape (and there's aren't that different: left guy has a slimmer face and a longer chin, but it's not like they're opposite face types) eyebrows (not really, yes left guy's are more arched, but they're still similar when you consider the wide variety of brows out there), eye color, and accents (which have nothing to do with looks or twinship).

I'm sorry. I recently watched a movie in which they both starred ... I honestly thought they had cast Orlando Bloom in a double role (which actually would have made sense within the context of the movie, but still). I AM SORRY, but I'm usually not bad with faces, it's the first time something like that happened, but I couldn't tell them apart. At all. :(

I'm inclined to agree with you, OP. I get why people think they look similar, but they look pretty different to me, even as Will Turner and Bard. But I'm also someone who thought the identical twins I used to know looked completely different while everyone else in our class couldn't tell them apart, so I may not be the best judge here.

You've actually just made me realize they look very similar.

Congratulations on achieving the opposite of what you wanted to do?

Well I feel you're trying to nitpick all the details you can to show how they're different here. I will not say they are identical, but I do think they're similar enough that I wouldn't object to a movie that cast them as brothers.

However if the real problem is people constantly going "Hey these two look alike!", then I suppose it would be annoying when you've had it come up a million* times.

(* "Million" is a hyperbole.)

I honestly thought the not Orlando man was Gaspard Ulliel.
