You DO realize a movie can be morally better but artistically worse, right?

These are movies, not after-school specials. I'd rather a kid watch GI Joe cartoons than than Rambo but that doesn't mean the latter isn't better, dumb issues and all.

Seconding this. Whether a work of fiction is technically good has shit all to do with its message.

That's the reason I side eye people who judge the quality of works of fiction based on how diverse the cast is+if there are good female characters and LGBTA+ representation.

Hey, you know what movie had a really diverse cast?

This movie is excellent.

This one has a strong woman of color lead!

Nah. You were 15!

For the record I love Catwoman, just not because I think it's Good

It's a lot like Dungeons and Dragons in that everything about it is so horribly wrong and stupid that it somehow blends all of that together into something that's actually pretty fun to watch nonetheless.

I loved Vampire Academy. It wasn't "good" as in deep or high quality or anything, but I thought the movie was a better story than Twilight in all areas... even without counting ~moral messages for teenage girls~

That's the book/movie series with the girl with the Mary Sue check list name, right?

Eh, I didn't see it, but the trailer made it look more interesting that Twilight. More like the sort of thing I would've liked a lot in high school. Girls with weapons, being friends with each other, kind of being dorky, plus vampires and hidden worlds and stuff. I mean, it still looks like an utter cornball movie, but the entertainment factor at least looks better than Twilight.

Because I'm sorry, Twilight wasn't just badly written, it was badly shot, badly directed, badly...everything. It was dull.

"it was badly shot, badly directed, badly...everything. It was dull."

Actually, that's a spot on description of the VA movie.

The books were good, had some problems, but were good. The movie was so poorly done.

Maybe this movie is also suffering from being at the tail-end of the vampire/fantasy craze? I thought it was all about dystopia in YA now.

Don't you know that any movie that has teenagers in it nowadays gets compared to Twilight? Bonus if it has vampires and is adapted from a book series.

I can't get over my disappointment that it wasn't about lesbian vampires.

Maybe someday someone will make a good Carmilla movie!

Here. Impressively purposfully terrible movie with Lesbian vampires. Http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1020885

This movie was shit.

Absolutely horrible.

Honestly it doesn't interest me but seeing a character like her in the trailer brought my hopes up about YA fic
