I like Keanu Reeves a lot as a person and I don't think it was his worst role ever but I think he was the weakest part of that film (although I don't think he was as terrible as I've heard other people say). I haven't seen it in about five years though, so maybe I'd feel differently if I saw it again.

I actually thought Dogberry was the weakest part of the film. I didn't even get half of his lines until I saw Whedon's version with Nathan Fillion playing Dogberry, and realised why they were supposed to be funny.

Blasphemy!

Seconding! I thought Nathan Fillion was once again playing Castle. Keaton, on the other hand, made the movie for me. I felt so badly for him when he admitted that he got so worried about screwing the movie up that he made himself sick with a high fever, but he absolutely *nailed* it.

My professor found film version Dogberry irritating and I had to agree. Michael Keaton is so over the top and not in a way that makes the character fun.

Dogberry is usually played as being very pompous, thick as a plank, or both. I've only ever seen Michael Keaton play him as batshit crazy.
