It will never not be hilarious to me that in the only scene in which he has significant amounts of dialogue, he's shirtless and oiled. Brannagh knows what his actors' strengths are.

Also, this movie always makes me ship Emma Thompson and Denzel Washington. I can't be the only person who sees it, can I?

You are not! Or at least I shipped Beatrice and the Duke together, not the actors. Was that what you meant?

Mostly yes—that proposal scene worked really well for them in this version. I've never seen it done so sweetly and wistfully in any other production.

On the other hand, I am deeply pleased by the idea of Emma Thompson and Denzel Washington dating in real life. Sure, it would never happen, but wouldn't it be fun if it did?
