It really is not that hard to avoid things you hate in fandom. I can understand the frustration if somebody keeps bugging you, personally, about THIS AMAZING THING!!! you're just not interested.

But for the most part, it's just fans being fans. We're in fandom because we're fans and we've all sqee'd excessively about something somebody else hated.

In short, I agree with you. :)
