The difference between a nice guy and a Nice Guy (TM)

Is that a nice guy knows that being nice is expected and will strive to present positive qualities beyond that and a Nice Guy will treat people nicely so long as he thinks they're his property.

A friend of mine said that in essence, genuine (lowercase) nice guys don't describe themselves as such; they rarely if ever point out their "niceness" because to them it's the just the minimum standard of decency and thus not worth remarking on. The moment someone makes a big deal about their "niceness," my radar goes up.
