I can understand why people might not reply to comments on older LJ stories, because if the story was posted by a mod as part of a fest, the writer may not be getting notifications (and, because the story's old, is probably not checking for comments) but why would anyone not want (nice) comments on older stuff?* And -- even more baffling -- why would anyone want to limit the number of comments they receive? The annoying thing is that the less gracious a writer/artist is towards people who comment, the more comments they seem to get.

*I can see why writers don't want people asking them to update a story that's finished or has stalled, but they can still be pleasant about it.
