Was there? I don't have a tumblr, so usually when I go on I check one or two and spend half an hour staring at the pretty artwork, then wander off. I guess when I say "a ton" I'm comparing it to other fandoms that I've been in, where genderbent stuff is usually a small minority. The Hobbit is a fairly large fandom (if you're counting books + movies) and it has a semi-canonical basis for lady-dwarves-who-look-like-dudes-unless-you're-another-dwarf, so it tends to get what I would term a decent amount of genderbent fic just because people want to play around with stuff like "What if Nori was a woman?" for example.
