I think everyone should read To Kill a Mockingbird at least once in their lives, and they should do it as early as possible. It's one of those books that can really inform your outlook on life if you read it growing up.

But my favorite from that list is probably Lolita. Beautiful language, and a good starter novel if you want to get into Nabokov (and you should).
