So basically what I'm getting from this is you don't think "best friends" is a popular pairing type because you've given it an artificially narrow definition. Like, it's so incredibly narrow it's completely pointless.

They're not allowed to have any tension (at any point), they can't have ship baiting, and they have to be comparable to Eren and Armin? I'm not even sure what that last one means.

Like, what is even left? Eren and Armin don't count under your definition because imo they've had a shitload of baiting. Almost as much as Ymir/Krista and Mikasa/Eren.
