I also use badly written books and screenplays in the same way. The first time I wrote as an adult was after seeing a terrible film and thinking even I could write better dialogue than that (The Island btw, what a stinker).

I think this is pretty common behaviour and nothing to feel bad about.

Yeah, as long as you're not mean about it to the original artist/writer I honestly don't see a problem, like you.
