You can get several just by looking through Shakespeare's 'histories'. The most insane case is probably MacBeth - at least the other infamous example, Richard III, was based on contemporary rumours and actual historical fact before he was built into a cartoonish supervillain to suck up to Elizabeth by making her granddaddy look like a True Hero, not just the guy who won the war...MacBeth was straight up fiction. Contemporary accounts present him as a good king, and don't question his validity; he killed Duncan in battle - a battle that Duncan initiated; etc.

This is true but I was trying to think of a more... not contemporary, but one portrayed in the media today.

Doesn't stop Macbeth from being hilarious though.

Disney's Gargoyles is a better source for understanding the historical MacBeth than Shakespeare and that has him making an immortality pact with a Gargoyle.
