Re: Really popular non-canon ships who you see as just really good friends
(Anonymous) 2014-03-21 01:06 pm (UTC)(link)(Actually this ticked me off, not because it was the case, but because of HOW it was the case -- Hermione didn't get any personal character exploration or development in book 6 or 7 the way Ron did. She was just kinda there -- she was awesome, and more competent that both of the guys put together, but she was just there for the sake of the male characters. Argh. Especially after how amazingly strong and complex a character she had become in book 5.)
Re: Really popular non-canon ships who you see as just really good friends
but ron didn't get much in the way of real development in the first 5 books of the series (in my opinion), while hermione did. so i'd say she still comes out on top.
i count secure and more mature as "better". i think she's been the more solid, reliable friend since early days, particularly in GoF. i'd take a hermione granger over a ron weasley as a a friend any day, under any circumstance, but ymmv.
