Then they can wait.

(Anonymous) 2014-03-21 11:41 pm (UTC)(link)
....and now I remember why I was so creeped out by Emily Starr/Dean Priest back in the day.

(Anonymous) 2014-03-22 12:02 am (UTC)(link)
I don't think that makes it any less rape, tho, just not paedophilia.

(Anonymous) 2014-03-22 12:12 am (UTC)(link)
More like grooming.

(Anonymous) 2014-03-22 12:16 am (UTC)(link)
How is that rape if they wait until the younger one is mature enough to decide about their body and life?

(Anonymous) 2014-03-22 12:23 am (UTC)(link)
DA - Maybe not rape, but potentially sketchy as hell depending on what role the adult holds in the child's life and how much power s/he has to shape that decision.

(Anonymous) 2014-03-22 12:24 am (UTC)(link)
because they're grooming them the entire time. they don't really have a choice, because they've been told since they're 13 that they're supposed to be with this specific person, and they really don't think they have a choice.

(Anonymous) 2014-03-22 12:30 am (UTC)(link)
Only if the older one is a creepy weirdo brainwashing the younger one and manipulating them.

(Anonymous) 2014-03-22 12:34 am (UTC)(link)
That's still not rape. Some kids are told by their parents from the age of 13 that all gays will go to hell, but plenty of them decide all on their own that their parents are wrong. Of course they have a "choice." The idea that people are allowed to sit back and drop responsibility for doing X even though X is terrible because "people with more power than them told them X was okay" is bullshit. People's brains aren't that feeble.

(Anonymous) 2014-03-22 01:07 am (UTC)(link)
They may have a choice, but their ability to MAKE their choice is significantly impaired. If someone who says they love you and want the best for you insists that you make a decision the way they want, what are the chances you'll make a different one? Add to that the person is someone you perceive to be older and wiser, and has authority over you, all while you're only learning HOW to think for yourself. No, people aren't mindless zombies, but they're not freethinkers naturally. They have to LEARN how to figure out things for themselves, and even then they have a hard time getting rid of harmful thought patterns. If people are taking advantage of inexperience and authority, it's so much easier for them to keep reinforcing a suggestion.

(Anonymous) 2014-03-22 07:52 am (UTC)(link)
Plenty of chances, just like plenty of people learn easily to think with their own head from early on. From childhood, even, it's not like kids don't have their own ideas. Sounds like you're projecting your issues, bud.

(Anonymous) 2014-03-22 06:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Sounds like you want to ignore all the effects that social pressure, suggestions from people you're supposed to respect love, and expectations.

There's a HUGE difference between being able to think for and decide for yourself, and having the odd urge to go and do something that your parents may or may not like. No matter how much you want it not to be true, people do not operate in a vacuum and suppressing independent thought is actually pretty easy.

I'm not going to explain anymore, because quite honestly, you don't seem capable of understanding it.

(Anonymous) 2014-03-23 12:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Sounds like you're feeble-minded.

(Anonymous) 2014-03-23 01:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Must be, considering she can't form a coherent thought and keeps bringing in unrelated topics and making absolutely vague talk void of any concrete points.

Trigger warning: CSA

(Anonymous) 2014-03-22 08:41 am (UTC)(link)
As someone who WAS groomed and then raped by an adult, thanks for calling me feeble minded. Thanks a fucking lot.

Maybe you are lucky enough to just not understand groomings way of working on your mind. I hope so for your sake, but still stop shoving your ignorant opinions around. It may not BE rape to groom someone, but there isnt much aside from abuse that grooming is used to make a possibility.

You're welcome.

What the hell is wrong with you, asshole???

Re: Trigger warning: CSA

(Anonymous) 2014-03-22 07:00 pm (UTC)(link)
You're definitely the one who's feeble minded here, anon. Go read a book.

That is awful, and I'm really sorry that happened. Don't let the other anon get you down. You don't have anything to be ashamed of - your abuser does, though.
