This. I thought she was absolutely horrible and the characters were way too forgiving with her. I'd feel the same way if she were male. I mean I think Sherlock is a massive cock as well, but he hasn't done anything quite so irredeemably terrible as what Mary did.

Also, it may be a bit of an overreaction, but it's stemming from the fact that I'm really sick of people acting like you have to love her or you're a horrible person. I would think she's a good character if the show weren't so forgiving of her actions, but no, we're expected to think it's sweet when she and John get back together.

Then Sherlock and Mary try to put it on John by basically saying 'Well it's your fault for wanting an exciting life, that means you have to put up with us being horrible to you and everyone else".
