(Anonymous) 2014-03-22 01:37 pm (UTC)(link)It is ok to hate a character and I don't really see how she can be a sympathetic character after the last ep. Watching the eps stand alone I still really enjoy her character (and the way she interacts with John and Sherlock) in the first 2 eps but she lost my fondness in ep 3. Yes admittedly there are always gonna be irrational shipping fangirls who hate on a character for "breaking up" their ship but tbh all the criticism I've seen of Mary has, for the most part, been well reasoned...which leads me to believe you're just following the wrong people (or maybe need to get tumblr saviour).

(Anonymous) 2014-03-23 02:49 am (UTC)(link)To be honest, I think a lot of the things Sherlock said/did that seemed to support her-- claiming she shot him and performed surgery, pretending that she's right about John picking her because she's dangerous, etc.-- was all a ruse so that he could protect John, to get John through to the end of her pregnancy, or to keep him safe, or something. Sherlock's made so much progress as a person, I find it hard to accept that he'd just honestly *agree* with her or buy the shit she's feeding John.
But, as I discuss above in other ridiculously long post, this could all just be the result of bad writing and the poor fans are trying to find meaning and order in chaos. Which any long suffering Moffat-era Doctor Who fan can tell you is sometimes futile.
Whew. Man I need S3 fix-it fic, stat. There was so much after Reichenbach but I actually think I need it more NOW!
