1. Sounds like you've never been in a fandom that's barely existed because it's so small. >_<

Anime/manga fandom like that? No LJ comm, hard to find raw scans, no scanlations, one or two fanfics per year, one or two fanarts per year and if there's a LJ comm only about 3-5 pay attention to what's being posted on it (I won't even get into the fact that it can be months between posts).

Spend time in a tiny fandom like that and then try telling me that they're so great compared to bigger fandoms.

I've only been in HUGE fandoms (not because I choose them by that criteria, they just seem to blow up after I find them) and big fandoms rule.

iawtc. Larger fandoms' crap ratio is no different than small fandom, except in sheer numbers there is mathematically more shit that's better.

This is so true. I'm presently making the transition from two ginormous fandoms into one that doesn't have its own section on Fanfiction.net yet, and already I'm missing the perks of the bigger circles. If you think stuff like shipping and character worship is bad in big fandoms, try something so small even icons of your favorite (but minor) character cannot be found.

I forgot about 'no ff.net category', which forces you to spend hours in the misc section wading through fics with the summary "lulz, this has nothing to do with anime/manga/books/tv shows/movies/comic books but I didn't know where else to put it!"
