Your secret is not a secret. It is apparently completely acceptable fan behaviour to heap death threats on authors who don't write your OTP exactly the way you want them written.

I don't think anyone here is saying death threats are an acceptable reaction to this situation. Not that I don't doubt someone somewhere has done it because people are horrible.

Death threats? Please, like that's common. Anyway, I think if you write someone's pairing the opposite of what they desire and then fail to warn them away from it, you can expect them to be a little displeased.
