Nah, they wave when they see people waving to them. But this guy also spoke to the kid later.

But "a lot"? I don't know if I would classify it as a lot, usually when they're on the ice, they're focused more on the game than the stands. Waving without much reason might get a penalty for "delay of game".

Aww, I didn't realize the game was that strict. I suppose it does make sense though.

In any case, it IS cute that he acknowledged the kid. I bet that made his day. (And will be something his family will talk about forever.)
