I am all for this plan.

What's this?

(Anonymous) 2014-03-24 11:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Nextwave: Agents of H.A.T.E., a.k.a. the best comic book ever written.

If you're interested, there are only 12 issues (which have been collected into two volumes), and you don't need to have read any other Marvel comics to understand what's going on for the most part.

Thanks. I knew I knew those characters. I've heard great things about it... I'll get around to this series in my ordered reading eventually.

I'd much rather this than Guardians of the Galaxy. (I mean, I'm less mad about that than I used to be cause the trailer makes it look ridiculous and fun, but I'm still mad because I'd never heard of any of those people before the movie got announced and I'd been reading a shitton of random Marvel comics for years.)

Omg, yes please

(Anonymous) 2014-03-25 01:28 am (UTC)(link)
I'll gladly take that or an animated series.

Yes.

Except that Tony Jay is always and forever the voice of Devil Dinosaur in my mind.

(Also the voice of Rock Jaw. I'm still crushed that he's gone.)

Gary Oldman for Aaron Stack!

Alison Brie for Tabitha!

Danai Gurira for Monica!

i'm not sure it would translate well. poking fun at the medium is sort of its raison d'être and as a movie i think it would probably come across like those stale parody films.

(Anonymous) 2014-03-25 12:59 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't think it would have worked a few years ago. But with the marvel movies being such a big thing now, I think Next Wave could be translated without horrible stress.

the marvel movies being a big thing is why i mentioned the danger zone of stale parody films in line with the scary movie franchise and 2008's superhero movie. i think nextwave's satire works because it completely understands and wraps itself around the medium and the industry behind it. change the medium/industry and its charm will probably be lost, not just to general audiences.

SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY

(Anonymous) 2014-03-25 11:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Yessss. Especially if we could have Stephen Colbert as Dirk Anger.
