When the heck did everyone go from shunning and mocking anyone who uses "fangirl Japanese" to using it "ironically"?

Do true weeaboos even exist anymore?

Sure they do. Check DeviantArt.

They're still weeaboo trash tho, they're just pretending they're not.

Though, a visit to MAL or ANN shows that the unironic weeaboo population is still thriving.

gomen ne kawaii anon-chaaaaan ^.^

for real though, things go in cycles and it probably has a lot to do with us getting older and younger people getting into online fandom

I mean, some of the people I follow on tumblr were babies when I was in my weeaboo phase and were in preschool when I was growing out of it.

It's probably a trend that has fizzled. It was a lot bigger back when I was in middle school. I used to use a lot of the ^__^ >.< O.o emotes which I don't think are as prevalent anymore. And I occasionally used the word "baka". I'm assuming there are still hardcore weeaboos though, or else the weebstories tumblr wouldn't still be getting submissions.

O.o is a weeaboo emote? Shit!

Well, I don't care. That's my favorite emote ever, and I'm not letting it go.

I love that emote too. Dunno if it's weeaboo specifically but the only ones I've ever seen use it were anime fans, and I assume it's reminiscent of big anime eyes?

Horizontally read emoticons are usually considered more weeaboo-y because that's how Japanese emoticons are.

But Japanese emoticons usually aren't that simple ( ・ω・ )(´・ω・ )(´;ω; )(´;д; )

They serve are the inspiration, not the copypasta.

imo anyone using desu seriously is a weeb. There's a few words that I think have become internet vocab and are ok to use but a grammar marker is still not one.

Weeaboos nowadays use a lot of tumblr speak since that's the thing now. Also, per tumblr, instead of all the emotes they use to have weebs now use a lot of gifs.
