I've been a bit down lately, especially about my (lack of) a love life, so I was wondering if anyone non-romantic sonhs they listened to to build themselves up again? Billy Joel's Only Human/ Second Wind is the only song that I can find that fits this, so I would love some recs.

If we're talking Billy Joel, that song he sang for Oliver and Company. "Why Should I Worry" I think it's called. It always makes me want to dance.

I know it's cheesy, but S Club 7 - Bring It All Back always makes me feel a bit better. Hall of Fame is another one.

Close to Me by The Cure is the opposite of romantic. It's about how love is terrible and constricting, but I find it really peppy and uplifting anyway.

Oh, I just re-read your post and I think I got the idea wrong.

It's the cliche of the moment, yes, but Let It Go. Some others:

One of my favourites is Intuition by Selena Gomez. That cheered me up a lot when I was going though a low in my love life.

If you've never heard A Better Son/Daughter by Rilo Kiley, you should. It's uplifting the way a kick in the ass is.

I love a good 80s power ballad, and John Farnham's "You're the Voice" is about as power ballad-y as it gets.

Chris Rice's songs "So much for my sad song" and "Lemonade" always make me happy, but maybe not the best if you're currently in the dumps?

Linkin Park - Iridescent.

Listen to it, the basic gist of the song is "Take all your sadness, anger and depression and let it go."
