Re: Walking distance

(Anonymous) 2014-03-25 03:38 pm (UTC)(link)
I walk everywhere; it's my primary method of travel. Partially, because I am a poor student and don't like to spend money on the bus unless I absolutely have to. Also, I happen to be very lazy when it comes to sports so the only exercise I ever do is walking - to the uni, to the city, shopping, etc.

So my requirements for a rout to be walkable are:

1) Safety - can I get wherever I'm going either before dark or only through well-lit populated areas? Are the walkways adequate?

2) Difficulty: is it all flat pavement? I'll walk all day, no problem, just need to make sure I've got water with me. The steeper and less paved things are, the longer it'll take me / the less motivated I'll be to do it. So a very steep rout, my upper limit would be about an hours walk.

3) Weather: Is it raining? Snowing? Foggy? Then I shall actually get out my wallet and pay for a bus ticket. Even if it's only one station.

4) Time: I will willingly walk all day if I have the time, but I hate having to hurry and I categorically refuse to run. So, time permitting, I walk, if for whatever reason I'm under time pressure, off for the bus.
