Re: Walking distance

Walking distance would be 5-6 miles (1.5 to 2 hours) in good weather, in a part of my town where there are sidewalks (most of the place), and as an occasional thing, or for pleasure. If it was a daily thing (getting to and from work), in winter (Iowa cold, enough to freeze the snot in your nose) or in a part of town without sidewalks, I think I would balk at having to walk more than 1-2 miles (20 to 40 minutes). Also, it makes some difference if it is in pleasant surroundings with something nice to look at on the way, versus highway with speeding cars belching exhaust in my face.
