To be fair, if you're invested in the MCU and what happens to its characters, ignoring a major source of canon is kind of difficult. Remember when New Doctor Who brought back Jack Harkness after Torchwood had been running for a while? I hated Torchwood, but not knowing all the canon that had happened made me itchy between my shoulderblades. I "solved" this problem by dropping completely out of New Who fandom, but I don't want to do the same thing for the MCU.

Some fans find it easy to ignore promotional tie-ins and webisodes and scripts for lost episodes. Some just HAVE TO KNOW. Not everyone reacts to fandom the same way.
