(Anonymous) 2014-03-27 04:38 am (UTC)(link)- I guess the appeal of AUs would depend on what sort of fandom you're in. If you're in a worldbuilding fandom like Lord of the Rings or Harry Potter where the world and environment is a huge part of the characters, then I can see how it would be less appealing to take that away. In my case, my prominent fandoms are current day, mundane, slice of life types where the environment isn't particularly important. It's fun to put those characters in AUs and see what happens.
