Shit. I got download my favorite recaps.

Do you know a way to do this besides massive amounts of copy/pasting?

I never understood the point of that site, so *shrug*

I think it kind of sucks that it has to be shut down, as opposed to taken over by people who wouldn't mind doing it for free, even if it had to be abbreviated. From what I've heard, TWoP isn't even the same as it was before it became part of NBC, so I'm sure people who were fans of the old would be glad. I never really got into TWoP, it was way too cynical for me and the mods were insane, but I enjoyed having a place to actually discuss things when I needed to, even if it meant wading through cynicism and risking being warned by TWoP Howard.

Aww. The recaps were funny sometimes, even if the forums seemed to be full of banhammering.

I really hope someone out there is saving the recaps. I used to spend so much time in the forums, Buffy and The OC. I don't know why I stopped posting - the moderation never bothered me even though I did get banned once or twice for talking about the boards on the boards.

I had no idea TWoP still existed. This is like finding out that an actor just died when you thought they died in the 80s.

Oh, that's sad. I haven't been back there in years, but I enjoyed their BSG commentary about 2-5x better than actual BSG.

I don't post there much anymore and haven't read any recaps in ages but it's still sad, end of an era and all that. And I enjoyed some of the smaller show threads on the general boards (the only place I ever really still occasionally post is in some of the anime threads on the Cartoons forum). Looks like I'm going to be spending some time this weekend saving a pile of my favorite recaps for posterity.

Deeply disappointed. It's the only place I've found for semi-intelligent discussion of one of my shows.

Long overdue. That was where I got my start in internet fandom, and I made a hell of a lot of good friends in the forums, but the recaps got to the point where you couldn't figure out what an episode was even about through all the overdone, boring snark.

I grew to hate that site so I'm actually glad.

I sort of drifted away from that site around the time it was originally bought by NBC, but I do have fond memories of some of those recaps (the funniest were of genuinely terrible shows).

meeemories~ their dawson's creek recaps were errething.

I;m sad to lose the forums -- I almost never posted but it was nice to have a place to talk about every show I was a fan of.

On the other hand I am so glad that no one will be paying the recapper of The Vampire Diaries anymore. I had to stop reading her recaps when she started acting like the show was so bad it was ruining her life and whining about it all the time.
