His deal is more about being the young would-be paragon--rather like Captain Marvel of DC. This is distinct from the older paragon, like Superman or Captain America, both in the sense of their idealism often overpowering their common sense, and in the sense of their immaturity sometimes preventing them from living up to their ideal. However, it's still possible to make the type likable and interesting if you give them a decent writer.
